Reports in The Sun on Tuesday claim that Everton will look to make a move for Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose if Romelu Lukaku leaves Goodison Park this summer.

Despite being offered a new long-term contract with the Toffees, the 23-year-old has told the club that he won’t be signing a new deal as he looks to make a move to a team playing in the Champions League.

Whether that happens at the end of the season or not remains to be seen, with the Merseyside outfit sure to demand a huge transfer fee for the Belgian if they decide that they have to cash in on him.

If an exit does materialise, Everton manager Ronald Koeman could target a deal for Willian Jose, who is said to be available for around £25m.

The 25-year-old – who has spent his career in Brazil and Spain – is currently enjoying one of his best ever goalscoring seasons after becoming a key man for Sociedad, and is one that has caught the attention of the Toffees boss.

The striker, who has missed the last five La Liga matches because of a hamstring injury, has made 20 league appearances this season, scoring an impressive nine goals from 39 shots.

He has shown that he is far more than just a good finisher though, also providing three assists and 13 key passes for his teammates.

Koeman has shown through his use of Graziano Pelle at Feyenoord and Southampton, and now Lukaku at Everton, that he likes to have a physical presence up top, and the Brazilian would also bring that as he stands at 6’1” tall.

Willian Jose has won 43% of the aerial duels he has faced to show that he can be a danger in the air, while he has also completed 10 take-ons to show that he has the ability with the ball at his feet too.

If Lukaku does leave Everton this summer then there is no doubt that Koeman faces a huge task to try and replace him, but the addition of Willian Jose could certainly go some way to doing just that.
