Stats suggest West Ham target is ready to compete with Aaron Cresswell on the left

According to reports in Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo, West Ham United are said to be lining up a summer move for Hoffenheim left-sided star Steven Zuber, although they could face competition for his signature from the likes of Juventus and Sevilla.

The Irons have endured a disappointing season and currently lie in 12th position in the Premier League table, and manager Slaven Bilic will be looking to strengthen his team at the end of the season.

Having struggled to adapt to life at the London Stadium and in the cup competitions, the Croatian boss will demand a better campaign next term, and will look to bring in players that can push the players he already has at his disposal.

With Zuber starring in a left wing-back role for the German outfit this season, it would suggest that he would provide competition for Aaron Cresswell with summer signing Arthur Masuaku failing to impress.

In 15 Bundesliga appearances, the 25-year-old has shown his defensive capabilities by making 33 interceptions, but it is his attacking stats that perhaps hark back to the earlier days of his career when he was often deployed as a left winger.

The Switzerland international, who picked up his first cap for his country last week, has scored three goals from 15 attempts, as well as making 10 key passes and providing two assists.

He has also completed 14 take-ons, which show he is able to get past defenders in order to start creating chances for his teammates.

While they may face competition from Juventus and Sevilla, the stats suggest that it would prove to be something of a coup if West Ham bring Zuber to the London Stadium this summer.
