It may be a new calendar year but some things don't change in the Premier League. Liverpool are still miles ahead of the rest of the division, Norwich City are still lagging behind and the 18 clubs in between are still proving pretty tough to predict.

But away from the clubs and onto the individuals. As the first month of 2020 draws to a close, we look at the Premier League stars nominated for January's PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans' Player of the Month award...

Alisson

Alisson has become one of the lynchpins in Jurgen Klopp's table-topping Liverpool side, combining very impressive shot-stopping with the ability to build attacks from the back. He's kept four clean sheets in five Premier League appearances this month and even grabbed an assist against Manchester United when he launched a last-minute goal kick up to Mohamed Salah, who was given the freedom of Anfield to make it 2-0.

Nick Pope

Burnley may have started the calendar year with back-to-back defeats but they've bounced back to claim consecutive victories and Nick Pope has played a massive part in that. He's made an incredible 23 saves throughout January - an average of over five per game - including a penalty save against Leicester City's Jamie Vardy. The England international capped off the month with a shock clean sheet at Old Trafford, as Sean Dyche's side unexpectedly won 2-0.

Ricardo Pereira

Ricardo Pereira has weighed in with an incredible 25 tackles this month but the Leicester City defender's contributions have been by no means limited to protecting Kasper Schmeichel's goal. The Portuguese produced a thrilling attacking performance against West Ham, scoring and assisting in a 4-1 thrashing. Pereira also helped the Foxes to a clean sheet on New Year's Day as his side won 3-0 at St. James' Park.

Adama Traore

Yet another monthly nomination for Adama Traore, whose electric form has continued throughout January. In four Premier League appearances this month, Wolves' rising star has produced three assists, eight key passes and an incredible 34 dribbles. Incorporated into that is the 3-2 comeback Traore inspired against Southampton, providing two setups in the second half.

Sergio Aguero

A stunning January has seen Sergio Aguero chalk up an incredible six goals, netting in all three of his Premier League appearances. That prolific haul includes a hat-trick against Aston Villa, also accompanied by an assist, as well as a brace versus Crystal Palace and a winner from the bench in a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United. All in all, Aguero has hit six of the best from just 14 efforts at goal.

Gabriel Jesus

Aguero's striking understudy hasn't been in bad form throughout January either. In fact, he's been involved in five goals from four outings with three strikes and two assists, making the Bramall Lane clash the only one in which the Brazilian striker failed to notch up a goal contribution. In previous January appearances, he scored twice against Everton on New Year's Day, netted and assisted versus Villa and set up Aguero in 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
