Joel Matip has been voted the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Premier League Player of the month for September.

In a vote run by fan engagement experts, Snack Media, the Liverpool defender won with 44% of the vote, beating Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez, who finished in second place with 17%. Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mahrez's team-mate, Kevin De Bruyne, both took 14% of the vote, while Leicester City's Ricardo Pereira and AFC Bournemouth's Callum Wilson grabbed 7%.

In the first of five divisional votes carried out over nine days via Snack’s digital and social networks and supported by top-flight football clubs and the press, it was evident that the Cameroon international’s impressive performances – in which he helped the Reds take maximum points last month - have resonated with football fans up and down the country.
