Wolves defender Matt Doherty has been voted the Premier League’s PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month for September by football fans across the country. In a vote run by fan engagement experts Snack Media, the Irish wing-back won with an impressive 39% of the vote, leaving the likes of Chelsea talisman Eden Hazard and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero trailing in his path.
In the first of four divisional votes carried out over seven days via Snack’s digital and social networks and supported by top flight football clubs and the press, Doherty’s strong performances throughout the second month of the season drew plaudits from not only Wolves fans but also the wider Premier League audience.
September saw Doherty grab two assists, play a hand in three clean sheets and help Wolves take a point away from Old Trafford in a 1-1 draw. Nuno Santo’s side went unbeaten in the top flight last month and are now seventh in the Premier League table.
