Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has been voted the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month for February by football fans across the country. In a vote run by fan engagement experts Snack Media, the Dutch defender won by a landslide and a clear majority of 51%, some way ahead of Manchester United’s Paul Pogba in second place as well as Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Aymeric Laporte, and Burnley’s Ashley Barnes – who completed the shortlist for February.
In the first of four divisional votes carried out over seven days via Snack’s digital and social networks and supported by top flight football clubs and press, van Dijk’s dominant performances last month – which saw him score twice against Watford while helping the Reds keep three clean sheets – struck a chord with with the majority of the Premier League audience.
