Highly-rated Chelsea youngster Lewis Bate is wanted by several Premier League teams, including West Ham and Leeds, but Football FanCast's EFL insider believes that a move to Portsmouth would be an interesting fit for the teenager.

Bates, one of the Blues' biggest Academy prospects, is yet to make a senior appearance for the Stamford Bridge outfit and has been strongly linked away from west London this summer having let his contract run into the final 12 months.

With no experience in men's football besides the odd appearance in the EFL Trophy for Chelsea's Under-23s, an EFL loan is likely to be the next move for the talented 18-year-old, regardless of his next permanent club.

There will be a queue of Championship and League One sides interested in Bate, the EFL spy is confident that Bate could cause damage at Fratton Park.

He exclusively told Football FanCast:

"He would be another interesting fit. This midfielder is a clever player with a wide range of passing abilities to hurt teams in League One and above."

Portsmouth is an excellent platform for any youngster to take the next step in their development.

In Danny Cowley, Pompey have a manager that has previously put his trust into youth, and playing in front of a full house at Fratton Park on a weekly basis would be priceless for any young player.
