Liverpool have been boosted in their chase to sign Chelsea target Alex Teixeira after he revealed his interested in a move to Anfield, Sky Sports reports.
The 26-year-old Shakhtar Donetsk star was heavily linked with a switch to join the Blues, but late interest from the Reds looks to have halted his potential move to Stamford Bridge.
It is believed he has a close relationship with Liverpool duo Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva, a factor that could boost Jurgen Klopp’s chances of securing his signature this month.
Klopp will be hoping he can complete the deal before the end of the January window to become the club’s second signing of the winter window.
He has already completed the signing of Serbian ace Marko Grujic, with the player currently on loan at Red Star Belgrade until at least the end of the campaign.
Teixeira has made 26 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists.
