Both the Red Devils and the Gunners have been aligned with the Frenchman of late, with the 20-year-old centre-back one of Spanish football’s most highly-rated emerging players.
Despite his age, Laporte is already a regular first-teamer for the Basque side, who have a reputation for producing talented players, and represents his nation at U-21 level.
His performances have led to suggestions that big sides may look to exploit the £31m release clause in his current contract, but the starlet says that he is not thinking about his future:
“[As players] we play the games and that’s it. I’m focused on what I’m doing.” He is quoted by The Express.
Laporte also talked up his chances of improving as a player with Bilbao and suggested that he feels he’s in the right place to develop:
“The [Bilbao] manager trusts in me. I’m very happy and grateful here. The team are good. Last game we lost was against Barcelona.” He said.
“We have improved a lot since the beginning of the campaign when we struggled to get our best form. We are now more solid and excited about the future.
“Here there are many players with great experience and I can learn a lot.
“One can always improve. Personally, I still have much to learn.”
