It was quite clear that Arsenal had one of their most disappointing seasons in recent memory in 2016/17. However, that didn’t stop club CEO Ivan Gazidis pocketing an eye-watering £919,000 bonus on his ‘salary’.
Finishing 5th in the Premier League, disappointment again in Europe and subsequently failing to qualify for the Champions League this campaign meant that pressure was on Arsene Wenger and the board to act over the summer.
However, once again it seems that the wishes of the Arsenal fans have been put to one side. The board could have lowered season ticket prices for supporters, considering they are the most expensive in the Premier League. They could have even put more spending money into the transfer kitty at the Emirates.
Yet it seems that a healthy bonus for their richest employee was priority.
Upon hearing this news, Arsenal fans took to social media to express their disgust…
Ivan Gazidis given close to £1million bonus I’m done this club reward their staff for under performing well played Arsenal 👏🏻

Ivan Gazidis received a bonus of £919,000 for last year making a total package received of £2.61m, what an absolute joke, this has to stop!

That money for Gazidis is obscene. @Arsenal can the club justify it? Not sure he really merits that bonus!

Arsenal out pricing many true fans so they can reward #gazidis with a huge bonus for failing to make the champions league
