What a truly breath-taking game of Premier League football we were fortunate enough to enjoy on Tuesday night, between Everton and Arsenal at Goodison Park.
With both sides having plenty to lose ahead of this one you could have been forgiven for thinking that it would be a cagey affair, but as the first half wore on it soon became abundantly clear we were in for a top match.
Arsenal grabbed the lead through an Alexis Sanchez free-kick that took the most wicked of deflections off of Ashley Williams but from thereon, it was Everton largely in the ascendancy.
Ronald Koeman had wanted to see more fight from his players and he certainly got that as the Goodison Park faithful urged them forward to eventually equalise via Seamus Coleman before half-time.
That attacking vigour would continue into the second half until, right in the last few minutes, it was that man Williams at the right end who buried a header to seal the game.
2-1 it finished then to the Toffees. Here are five stunning images to help sum it all up...
Williams has a shocker
The former Swansea defender had a terrible few minutes in the first half that culminated in this picture.
He nailed his own team-mate Idrissa Gueye with a knee-high challenge that could have been a red if it contacted Arsenal player before producing this comical moment. An Alexis Sanchez free-kick, that was nothing special, found its way towards Williams, who duly got his feet tied up and deflected the ball past his own 'keeper. Nightmare.
Coleman equalises
Coleman found himself with acres of space in the penalty area and duly punished the Gunners before half-time.
After good work down the left from Leighton Baines, the left-back delivered a fine ball into the Arsenal area. None of the Gunners defence could get near the ball let alone the onrushing Irishman, who rose up and nodded home with a superbly controlled header. The Toffees were in the ascendancy before half-time and deserved their goal.
A feisty affair
This erupted at half-time after what had been a competitive first 45 minutes.
Both sides hadn't been afraid to get involved with the physical side of the game with the likes of Francis Coquelin, James McCarthy and Granit Xhaka all putting in strong challenges in the first half.
Arsenal fans will be pleased to see their team up for a scrap, of course, whilst Everton supporters will be glad to see their squad sticking together after some poor results.
Everton show their desire
Everton have been criticised by many recently for lacking that ability to dig in and work for the three points but they certainly did against Arsenal.
They fought for every single ball and at times bullied Arsenal, who were clearly flustered by the end of it. As this picture shows, the Toffees didn't mind getting hurt if it meant staying in the game. It was a gutsy, committed performance from Everton and they thoroughly deserved the three points.
Williams seals it
Ashley Williams went very much from zero to hero in this game as he crashed home a superb header minutes from the end.
After making a fool of himself in the first half he dusted himself down and performed to the levels we all know he can in a fine show of character from the Welsh international. He kept going, much like the rest of his team tonight, and got his just deserves with the winner in the 86th minute. A great finish to a cracking football match.
