Thursday's live Amazon Prime Video Premier League action gets underway at Bramall Lane at 7:30pm as Chris Wilder's Sheffield United clash with Steve Bruce's Newcastle United.

Both teams have defied expectations in different ways in 2019/2020 so far, so it will be interesting to see which one of them comes out on top in South Yorkshire.

The Blades have reached dizzy heights in their first season back in the top flight since relegation in 2007, sitting just outside the top six and above the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United with almost half of it gone.

Meanwhile, after the seemingly unambitious appointment of Bruce, the Magpies were tipped by many to go down this term but they're holding their own in lower mid-table and are fresh from an impressive point against Manchester City over the weekend.

The two Uniteds have only met once this decade and that encounter came in the Sky Bet Championship, with Newcastle coming from behind to triumph 2-1 thanks to Peter Lovenkrands and Kevin Nolan strikes cancelling out Richard Cresswell's opener.

Despite this, the hosts are firm favourites for Thursday and shouldn't be deterred by the fact that they've only triumphed against this opposition once since 1994.

Unbeaten in five, they have the liberty of no injury concerns whatsoever and will likely stick to the same starting Xl that earned a respectable draw at Molineux in the last matchday.

Bruce can only dream of that being true of his squad as he continues to be without skipper Jamaal Lascelles and winger Matt Ritchie, whilst Florian Lejeune, Andy Carroll, DeAndre Yedlin and Allan Saint-Maximin are all doubts for the trip.

Sheff Utd could go as high as fifth if they win and results elsewhere go their way and Newcastle could end the night in the top half of the Premier League table with three points.

Plenty to play for at English football's oldest ground!
