The Premier League duo have been heavily linked with the Argentine hit-man over the course of the past few days, with reports having suggested that £30m+ bids are in the pipeline for this winter.
Higuain is rumoured to be growing unhappy with life in Naples, with the club’s failure to qualify for this season’s Champions League having hit hard at the Stadio San Paolo.
Further to this Napoli have been mooted to be ready to sell in a bid to boost their financial situation due to the aforementioned disappointment.
But Higuain’s brother, Federico – who also plays football professionally for MLS side Columbus Crew – says that reports suggesting his sibling is near to joining Arsenal or Liverpool are wide of the mark:
“I have read and heard different things about my brother, but none of these things correspond to reality,” he is quoted by the Daily Star.
“People have spoken of the disappointment of not qualifying for the Champions League, and that this has caused resentment from Gonzalo.
“Nothing could be further from the truth. When I speak to my brother he is calm, and happy to wear the shirt of Napoli.
“His future is still with the Partenopei.”
