Arsenal and Chelsea warned off German starlet

Julian Draxler (Schalke)Horst Heldt has warned Chelsea and Arsenal that they will be wasting their time if they try to lure Julian Draxler away from Schalke this January.

The Premier League pair have been heavily linked with the 20-year-old of late and are both believed to be ready to make serious winter moves for his signature.

Draxler is currently thought of as one of the Bundesliga’s finest young talents after a string of impressive displays.

Despite his age, the playmaker has already notched up over 100 games for his club and has represented Germany at a senior level.

Although he is happy to stay in Gelsenkirchen for now, Draxler has confessed that he has ambitions to play for one of Europe’s top sides in the future, which has prompted speculation that Chelsea and Arsenal may make moves in the New Year.

However, Schalke’s technical director, Heldt, says that the starlet will be staying put.

“He has a long-term contract and there is no reason that he will be sold this summer or next,” Heldt told talkSPORT.

“We are in regular contact, he feels right and has now decided to stay at Schalke. We do not plan to sell.”

But, Heldt did admit that a big offer could change their stance.

“We are planning with Julian, but if an offer over €70m came in what I say then?” He added.

“We plan to keep him, everything else in this crazy football world I can not control.”

Should Chelsea or Arsenal make a move for Julian Draxler?
