Arsenal and Leicester City are ready to battle it out for the signature of Deportivo La Coruna star Lucas Perez in the summer, Goal.com reports.
The 27-year-old has been in impressive form this term and is also being linked with a host of Serie A clubs in addition to those from England.
Premier League champions Leicester are preparing to reinforce their squad ahead of their looming Champions League campaign, as well as their title defence next season.
The Gunners are also keen to add another forward to their ranks following news that Danny Welbeck will be out of action for nine months after picking up a serious knee injury last weekend.
However, Deportivo president Tino Fernandez recently revealed his desire to keep hold of Perez and will do all he can to ensure his stay.
“Our intention is to keep Lucas, we are not looking to sell him. We will see what happens. We want him to be our leader in the future and will try to make that happen if possible,” he said.
He has already featured 38 times in all competitions for his side this term, so far scoring 19 goals while managing to provide another 11 assists in the process.
