All eyes were on Petr Cech as Arsenal took on Chelsea in the Community Shield.
The Czech stopper made the short trip across London after (rightly) becoming disconcerted with life under Thibaut Courtois and the move was heralded by many as the signing of the summer.
To be fair, Cech’s ex-work buddies gave him a relatively easy ride for the large majority of the game though there was one stand-out moment that had Arsenal fans absolutely drooling:

Oscar’s free-kick look destined for the top bin until Cech hurled himself across the goal and palmed it clear.
That moment was the standout in what was a fairly routine performance from Cech but that won’t in any way detract from the fact that that stability is exactly what Arsenal are after.
Arsene Wenger was quick to point out in his post match interview that Arsenal had a pretty nifty goals against column in the latter stages of the previous campaign yet it’s undeniable that Cech brings with him an air of calmness and authority which has been very much lacking at Arsenal in recent years.
One game, one clean sheet. There’s probably going to be a fair few more on the way.
Here’s what Twitter thought:
Key things for me: 1. Cech signing massive. Great debut. 3 trophies in 3 attempts. 2. Chambo is going to be electric 3. Kos is boss #afc

Cech; the definition of safe hands. We're applauding regular catches but it's because we haven't known reliability like this since Lehmann.

Cech showing us just why Terry thinks he'll save us 15pts a season.
