Arsenal fans slam Francis Coquelin after Red Star Belgrade draw

Arsenal qualified for the knockout stages of the Europa League despite being held to a goalless draw against Red Star Belgrade at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night, and Gunners fans weren’t impressed with Francis Coquelin’s performance.

The Frenchman started alongside Callum Willock in central midfield for Arsene Wenger’s side, who failed to find a breakthrough against the Serbian outfit with their best chance coming when Jack Wilshere’s effort was acrobatically cleared off of the line.

Coquelin tried to help his team from an attacking point of view but was sloppy in possession, while he was also caught out on a couple of occasions defensively as the hosts dropped points for the first time in the competition this term.

Arsenal supporters were quick to have their say on the 26-year-old’s showing via social media, and while one said he is “stealing a living”, another believed the midfielder “prevented us from winning”.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
