Arsenal & Liverpool battling for Champions League top scorer

Arsenal and Liverpool are in a three-way battle for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Luiz Adriano alongside Italian champions Juventus, according to reports from The Metro.

The Brazilian forward has been in electric form for the Ukrainian champions this term, with his nine Champions League goals in six group stage games the tournament’s highest tally, ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

But with his contract due to expire in January 2016, the 27-year-old is likely to be available for a bargain rate when the transfer window re-opens, with a small fee more attractive than the prospect of a free move for his current side.

Although Shakhtar are keen to keep their man, Juventus are circling and have been joined by both Liverpool and Arsenal.

Although the Reds and the Gunners both signed strikers last year, the clubs have had their struggles in front of goal this term, with the Merseysiders in particular having had big issues.
