Arsenal, Man United… 2014 has been a bad year for football

So with 2014 almost done with, it gives us all a good chance to look back on all the high and lows of the last 12 months.

There are so, so, so many highs and a lot of lows, too. Man City won their second Premier League title in May, while Liverpool let a five point lead at the top of the table slip with just three games remaining.

Real Madrid won the Champions League final, while Atletico Madrid surprised everyone by winning La Liga.

But amongst all that, football waved goodbye to some of its biggest and most influential players. Here’s a complete XI of retired footballers in 2014…
