Arsenal’s bid for top four glory is fast becoming an annual event, with north London rivals Tottenham occasionally threatening to break the mould and beat them to it.
The Gunners have finished in the top four for 16 consecutive seasons, which is some feat when you consider they haven’t exactly been at their best over the last few years.
They’ve developed a knack of just scraping through in recent seasons and many fans have tipped that run to end this season, what with Southampton, Tottenham and Manchester United all showing signs of keeping up the pace on the chasing pack.
As things stand, there are about five or six teams who should be considered serious contenders for third and fourth place – Chelsea and Manchester City will finish in the top two, no doubt.
But if Bloomberg Sports’ clever Premier League projected standings are accurate, then it’ll be Manchester United and Arsenal completing the top four places, while Tottenham just missing out in fifth yet again.
Bloomberg Sports’ algorithm has predicted each side’s expected points total after 38 games, and Arsenal are expected to comfortably get fourth, four or five points ahead of Spurs.
Chelsea are expected to win the league, while QPR, Leicester and Burnley are the three teams who are heading for relegation. Have a look at the projected league table below…
