Arsenal step aside as Man United swoop

Barcelona Midfielder Cesc FabregasArsenal boss Arsene Wenger will not launch a bidding war with Manchester United after it emerged they bid £25million for Cesc Fabregas yesterday, according to the Daily Star.

Fabregas is said to be keen on a move back to the Premier League but many presumed if this was to come to fruition his destination would inevitably be back at the Emirates Stadium. Yet, despite having a buy-back clause of £25million for Fabregas themselves, Wenger looks set to stand by and let David Moyes purchase Fabregas. Arsenal look set to make 50% of any sale of Fabregas to a different club and Wenger may well have other targets in mind if he receives a windfall.

Moyes has turned to Fabregas after seeing his first choice target Thiago Alcantara sensationally snub the Premier League champions and re-join his former manager Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich. However, a deal for Fabregas is far from materialising thus far. Today, Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova has stated that Fabregas is likely to stay at the Nou Camp for this season at least.

The Spain international made a whopping 52 appearances for Barcelona last season scoring 13 goals. It is unlikely that he is worried about his chances of playing this campaign with Vilanova a known stimulant of the move to bring Fabregas to Spain’s second city in August 2011. This transfer saga will take twists and turns and it’s likely we haven’t heard the end of it just yet.

United fans is Fabregas what you’re looking for? Arsenal fans are you worried about Wenger’s decision?
