Arsenal to battle Tottenham for Bundesliga ace

Patrick Herrmann (Borussia Monchengladbach)Arsenal are set to take on North London rivals Tottenham in the race for highly-rated Borussia Monchengladbach winger Patrick Herrmann, according to reports from The Express.

The 22-year-old has recently emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s top young talents following a sting of impressive displays.

His fine form alerted Spurs over the summer, but Andre Villas-Boas opted against making a serious move for him as a part of his White Hart Lane revolution.

Although Tottenham are still thought to be in the race, they will now face competition from arch rivals Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger sees the £13m rated wide-man as a good long-term addition to his armoury and is ready to sanction a move.

Hermann would add to the Gunners’ strong German contingent, which already includes Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Serge Gnabry.

Wenger has been monitoring the Monchengladbach starlet since 2011, and is ready to move imminently with interest from Serie A champions Juventus thought to be strong.

Hermann has been capped at every level of German youth football, and is believed to be capable of breaking into the senior squad in the future.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also watching Verona midfielder Jorginho.

Arsenal fans, would you like to see Patrick Hermann at the Emirates Stadium?
