Arsenal have made Juventus striker Simone Zaza their top target to help solve their striker shortage, according to the Telegraph.
The Italy international came close to a loan switch to West Ham during the summer, but decided to stay in Italy to fight for his place at Juve.
But now Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has identified Zaza as the striker to finally end his side’s need for a top class goalscorer.
Wenger has been heavily criticised for his lack of transfer business in the summer, with Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech being his only signing.
And he has particularly been accused of not addressing the side’s weaknesses up front, especially after it was revealed he knew crocked hitman Danny Welbeck would remain sidelined for months after undergoing an operation before the transfer window closed.
But in January Wenger will launch a £22m bid for bring Zaza to the Emirates Stadium in attempt to rebuild the fans’ trust in him as manager.
