With the latest round of fixtures only being played a few days ago, Gameweek 19 is already upon us as it is now time to begin considering who should be your captain this time around.

As often seen during the festive period where games are up and coming very fast, Fantasy Premier League players have a risk of selecting a player who could be rested by their managers.

This period sees games being played the previous weekend, another coming up today, with another round of fixtures coming right after New Year.

However, getting your captain selection correct during the next few matches could eventually decide whether you finish top of your league or even drop down into mid table spot.

It’s now time to dive into our selection of three players that should be your captain for the upcoming fixture later today as you look to acquire double the points over your opponents.

Mesut Ozil

Ozil

Picking Arsenal star Mesut Ozil (9.9) as your captain could be seen as the safest choice given his recent form before the shock 4-0 defeat to Southampton at the weekend.

The midfielder has been one of the key players for the Gunners this season with two goals and another 15 assists. He has already picked up 115 points this season and with the team hoping to bounce back against Bournemouth, he's bound to add to that tally.

Christian Benteke

Christian Benteke

Another good shout could be Christian Benteke (8.2), who recently rewarded Liverpool with all three points in the 1-0 victory over Premier League leaders Leicester City at the weekend.

The striker also has a great scoring record against upcoming opponents Sunderland and could be in line to start after featuring from the bench in his latest fixture. Benteke has already registered five goals in six Premier League appearances against the Black Cats.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane celebrates

Next up is Harry Kane (9.8) who recently netted a double in the 3-0 victory over Norwich City at the weekend to bring his goal tally to 11 so far this season.

His upcoming match sees his side travel to face an on-form Watford, but with the newly promoted side not having too many options in regards to player rotation, Kane could once again improve on his goalscoring tally.
