It had been an awful week for Arsene Wenger even before Arsenal's 2-1 defeat against Brighton on Sunday.

Two defeats against Manchester City had brutally exposed the same old failings in the Gunners ranks before the Seagulls inflicted yet another away defeat on Wenger's side.

The number of fans in support of Wenger's retention at Arsenal is constantly dwindling and the Arsenal Supporters Trust issued a damning verdict when asked if they want the legendary Frenchman to be in charge at the Emirates Stadium next season.

They held their general meeting on Monday night and each fan was asked whether they want Wenger in charge of the club for the 2018/19 campaign and 88 per cent said that they do not, as per Sky Sports.

Seven per cent said that the decision should lie with Wenger - presumably out of respect for what he has achieved with the club and the way he transformed English football in the mid-90s.

Interestingly, five per cent of Arsenal fans haven't decided yet, which makes you wonder what would have to happen to make them come down one way or the other on the issue that has dominated their club for years now.
