Italian giants AC Milan are looking to bring Aaron Ramsey in from Arsenal after they land Ivan Gazidis as their new CEO, SportMediaSet reports.
Having entered the final 12 months of his contract and their appearing to be no imminent end to the saga in sight, Aaron Ramsey continues to be linked with a host of clubs across the Premier League and Europe – but could end up losing a duo to one club.
Italian outlet SportMediaSet states that Milan believe they can land Ramsey on a free transfer from Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season, with the Serie A side confident Ivan Gazidis can pull off a deal.
Gazidis is expected to move from North London to the San Siro as the club’s new CEO, with it reported he will then look to mastermind a deal that would bring an end to Ramsey’s decade of service to the Gunners and land Milan a significant coup.
For now, all the talk surrounding Ramsey is merely speculation but the longer the saga drags on, the more at risk Arsenal are of experiencing what would be a major blow in the market – potentially their biggest since losing Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona in 2011.
The Gunners struggled to fill the void left by the Spaniard’s departure and have since seen their academy graduate return to the Premier League to join London rivals Chelsea, rubbing salt into wounds that are still very raw.
Losing Ramsey would be hit Arsenal with similar problems, especially as the Gunners have seen Mesut Ozil struggle for form this season, providing another hit to the club’s creativity in the final third, and finding a replacement for the Wales international would be extremely expensive.
