Uzbekistan international Odil Ahmedov has revealed that Arsenal are keen to sign him this summer.
The Gunners are rumoured to have been tracking the Anzhi Makhachkala star for some time, and could make an official approach in the coming months as Arsene Wenger steps up his rebuilding plans ahead of the new Premier League season.
Ahmedov is thought of as one of the rising stars of Russian football, and has been impressive for the wealthy Dagestan outfit for some time.
His impressive form has made a move away from the club in the not too distant future probable, with interest high.
The 25-year-old says that he would consider a transfer, and revealed that Arsenal are extremely interested.
“I’m happy at Anzhi but I’d like to try England, Spain or Italy,” he told Izvestia.
“It is true I have interest from Arsenal though – their scouts have watched me in every match this season.”
A move to the Gunners would represent the defensive midfielder’s first real crack at the big time, with his only previous club being Pakhtakor Tashkent in his homeland.
But, Ahmedov is confident that he is ready should Arsenal make an offer.
“If I move there, I could be a huge success but there is no bid yet,” he added.
Anzhi are said to be demanding £6million for the hard-tackling enforcer, by Arsenal value him at nearer the £4m mark.
Arsenal fans, would you be happy with Odil Ahmedov? Or should Arsene Wenger be looking for more established stars?
