Olivier Giroud can do nothing right at the momentn- he is getting boos from French fans and abuse from Arsenal supporters. The 28-year-old is in need of a change of luck on the pitch.
With his career being analysed at every turn, it may come a surprise to fans that even though he is going through what seems to be a rough patch, the Frenchman has outscored rival, and England’s record goalscorer, Wayne Rooney in every season the pair have played against each other in the Premier League. Since joining the Gunners in 2012, Giroud has scored a total of 17, 22 and 19 goals each season whereas Rooney has only managed to score 16, 19 and 14 respectively.
This information may make Arsenal fans breathe a slight sigh of relief and calm those worriers down. Give him time and he will score – he’s already two ahead of Rooney in this year’s Premier League season! You might not believe us now, but maybe Arsene Wenger didn’t need to buy another striker after all.
Olivier Giroud cost £12m and has outscored Wayne Rooney for the last 3 seasons. Rooney earns £12m a year. “What a waste of money”
