Hamburg general manager Frank Arnesen says there is no truth in the rumours Arsenal have made a bid to sign goalkeeper Rene Adler, according to Fox Sports.

The Gunners are actively searching for a new goalkeeper and have been linked with Barcelona shot stopper Victor Valdes, who confirmed he is looking to leave the Nou Camp this summer.

The other name being touted around the Emirates Stadium as potentially the new Arsenal number one is Adler, despite the 28-year-old having only moved to Hamburg last summer.

Wenger is thought to be a big fan of the Germany international but Arnesen has denied there is any truth to recent rumours the Premier League club have approached Hamburg to discuss a deal.

"It's obviously a fact Arsenal FC is on the search for a goalkeeper. But thus far no-one from Arsenal FC has been in touch with our club," he told Bild.

Adler himself says he is flattered to be linked with Arsenal and won't rule out a move to north London in the future.

"I am under contract with Hamburger, but for every professional it will be a pleasure and honour to get linked with a club like this," Adler said.
