Arsenal ace giving new boys lessons in London lingo

Arsenal star Alex Iwobi has been giving new signings Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding lessons in ‘London slang’ following their respective moves from Borussia Monchengladbach and Bolton Wanderers this summer.

In an attempt to help the new boys feel more at home in the English capital, Iwobi – the nephew of Bolton legend Jay Jay Okocha – translated the London lingo for both Xhaka and Holding after their attempted pronunciations of the regional vocabulary.

Dubbed ‘Gangster Language’ by the Nigerian international, the exercise in English led to some funny results, all of which you can see below…

Swiss international Xhaka seemed to grasp the concept fairly quickly and was soon impressing Iwobi with the use of such terms as ‘fam’, ‘popping’ and perhaps most impressively ‘that whip is cold’ – meaning ‘that car is good’.

Rob Holding’s northern twang, on the other hand, made the phrases sound a little less ‘gangster’ and more ‘get off my farm’ – but nevertheless it was a good effort from the young defender.

All three players will be hoping Arsenal can build upon their 3-1 victory over Watford as they take on Claude Puel’s Southampton side this weekend.
