Arsenal and Liverpool keen on Spaniard

Arsenal and Liverpool are set to clash in a campaign that involves bringing Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas to the Premier League, according to the Metro.

The Spanish goalkeeper, after helping Spain win the World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012, lost favour with Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, who has turned to newcomer Diego Lopez in recent months.

Rumours suggest the two have fallen out and that Casillas could be allowed to leave in the summer for the right price, but other speculation insists the goalkeeper’s situation could change if Mourinho makes a summer return to Chelsea.

After questioning the mindset of Gunners keeper Wojciech Szczesny, boss Arsene Wenger considers the move a possible solution to their keeper troubles. Arsenal have also shown interest in Swansea keeper Michael Vorm and Liverpool’s Pepe Reina, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has fought rumours throughout the season that suggest superstar keeper Reina is leaving, but sources now say the manager could sell the veteran goalkeeper in a push to bring Casillas to Merseyside.
