Arsenal and West Ham target rules out January move but suggests summer switch

As reported by The Scottish Herald, Celtic defender Virgil van Dijk has ruled a January move to the English top flight – but suggested he could leave Parkhead at the end of the season instead.

The in-demand 23 year-old has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs since first impressing for the Scottish champions last season, including Arsenal and West Ham by TalkSport and West Brom and Sunderland by The Daily Mail, but has now claimed that Celtic won’t sell him this month.

The 6 foot 4 centre-back told reporters; ” You never know in football, but for now Celtic will not co-operate with a departure in this transfer period. It would be a boost for my career if I could make a step up, but I have no problem if I remain a little longer in Scotland. Perhaps in the summer something happens.”

It’s believed Celtic rate their star defender, formerly of FC Groningen, at £10million.
