According to The Daily Mirror's John Cross, Arsenal will have to be "creative" when it comes to the summer transfer window.

What's the word?

Lying tenth in the Premier League table, and ten points off fourth-placed Chelsea, the likelihood of Arsenal finishing in the Champions League spots this season seems highly unlikely.

Of course, the Gunners do have the Europa League to fall back on, but there are still some fairly strong teams left in the competition like Serie A giants Inter.

As such, the north London side may be facing the very real prospect of no Champions League football yet again for next season, and The Daily Mirror's John Cross, has delivered what could be another blow.

It's suggested Arsenal will have to be "creative" in the transfer market as they will not have much money to spend, with Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser name-checked as someone to keep an eye on as he will be a free agent.

And, it's further claimed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang "seems likely to go" as he will have just the one year left on his existing Gunners contract.

Reality check

Well that doesn't sound very promising?

The north Londoners haven't had much to shout about this season, and so the summer, and potential talk of new signings, would have brought a welcome relief.

Instead, it looks like Arsenal are going to have to be frugal with their money, and that doesn't exactly bode well for their chances next season. But fans of the Gunners could potentially take some comfort from the fact that last summer they managed to bring in Nicolas Pepe on a club-record deal, so perhaps not all is lost just yet despite Cross' report.

Meanwhile, Arsenal's contract priority this summer should be this starlet, not Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
