Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hinted that he may use the January transfer window to strengthen his injury-ridden squad, as reported by MirrorFootball.
The Gunners received another injury blow on the weekend as midfielder Francis Coquelin was forced off with a knee injury in the defeat to West Brom, which will now keep him sidelined for up to two months.
As a result of the extent of the Frenchman’s injury, Wenger has admitted he may need to look at potential signings in January, despite being clear that he doesn’t think January is the best time to buy players.
He said: “I’ll do what’s needed in January even though in January it’s not an ideal transfer market.”
However, Wenger also hinted that he may decide to use makeshift players in his squad to fill in for the injured Coquelin, with Calum Chambers specifically named as a potential suitor.
“We have players that can play in Coquelin’s position,” Wenger said.
“Chambers has been educated in that position.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been boosted by the return of Aaron Ramsey, who began training again this week following a hamstring injury.
