Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to sign two players in the January transfer window, The Mirror reports.
The Gunners tactician may have played down buying new players in public, but has, according to the newspaper, told his scouts that he wants to add a defender and a midfielder this month.
Wenger has privately admitted that due to the latest injury to Mathieu Debuchy and Laurent Koscileny’s niggling Achilles problem, he is in the market for a quality centre-back.
But the Frenchman is also keen on purchasing another midfielder, with Jack Wilshere and club captain Mikel Arteta both still sidelined with respective injuries.
However the Arsenal manager’s midfielder of choice is Southampton anchorman Morgan Schneiderlin, despite the Saints appearing to be unwilling to sell their star player.
Schneiderlin has previously mooted his interest in leaving the St. Mary’s, and if push comes to shove the club could allow the 25-year-old to leave on a loan basis.
