Arsenal boss insists FA Cup and top four is still on

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that his side can win the FA Cup and secure Champions League qualification during the final weeks of the season.

The Gunners came through a tough semi-final tie with Wigan – which they won on penalties – to book a second trip to Wembley where they will face Hull.

But having missed their weekend league fixture, Wenger’s men slipped into fifth behind Everton, whose victory at Sunderland handed them the advantage in the battle for the final qualification spot for Europe’s top club competition.

The manner of the win against Wigan and the Toffees’ form has led to some pessimism among the north Londoners’ fans, but Wenger believes that the season can end on a positive note with cup success and another campaign in the Champions League:

“Our fans were fantastic on Saturday even when it was bad. We want them to be behind the team… I’m sure they will.” He is quoted by Goal.

“We can finish well this season. We can finish in the top four, we can win the FA Cup so it’s down to how united we’ll be until the end of the season and focused together.”

Arsenal will enter the FA Cup final knowing that a win against Hull will end the club’s nine year wait for a major trophy.
