Arsenal boss to launch deadline day release clause bid

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is plotting a late move to trigger impressive Valencia full-back Jose Luis Gaya’s £13.5m release clause before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 19-year-old left-sided defender has been one of Los Che’s star performers this term, settling into a key first-team role despite his age.

His performances are understood to have alerted Real Madrid, but Wenger is considering a release clause-triggering offer before the day is out and is confident that he can nab the teenager.

Arsenal have already added Gabriel Paulista and Krystian Bielik to their ranks during the current window, but a host of other players have been linked with switches to the Emirates Stadium, which hints that the Gunners’ business may not be over.

Gaya has made 19 La Liga appearances for Valencia this season and is a Spanish U-21 international.
