Speaking on The Athletic Transfer Daily (January 16th edition), David Ornstein has played down rumours of Bruno Guimaraes making a move to Arsenal.
As the Gunners look to strengthen their options in this January transfer window, Athletico Paranaense midfielder Bruno is said to be on the club’s radar, with the Brazilian side’s president confirming Arsenal’s interest.
But now, Ornstein has poured cold water over the speculation, instead insisting that it just “press reports” at this moment in time.

He said (as quoted by Football.London): “Bruno Guimaraes I don’t know very much about and I’ve been told by a couple of people that this is just media speculation at the moment. Because I don’t have specific information on it, I’m not shooting down those reports, I’m merely saying that’s what I’ve been told by a couple of people I trust, just press reports at this moment in time.
“Similar situation it feels like to what happened with Everton, the Brazilian player, last summer. It’ll be interesting to see how things develop because Arsenal have got irons in a number of fires at the moment.”
As is always the case when the transfer window rolls around, rumours and speculation linking players from all over the world go into overdrive. Whether its agents looking to get their clients the best deal, or club presidents and managers making off-hand remarks, it all adds to the media frenzy.

That could all change over these next couple of weeks however, as things begin to heat up, and new competition arises. But for now, these Arsenal fans who got very excited with their links to the 22-year-old should hold off their celebrations.
