Arsenal are close to naming Toulouse defender Serge Aurier as Bacary Sagna’s replacement, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger is believed to have identified Aurier as the perfect player to fill the void left by the outgoing Sagna, who admitted last week that he will be leaving the Emirates Stadium last season.
According to a number of reports, Arsenal and Toulouse have been talking since the middle of May and have since come to an agreement over a fee thought to be in the region of £7million.
And Aurier told a young Arsenal fan this weekend that he would be joining the Gunners, following his comments last month that saw him admit that “you can’t really say ‘no’ to Arsenal.”
Aurier has played in 70 times for Toulouse since joining the French club in 2012, scoring eight goals. But this season was his most productive by far, with the Ivorian scoring six and assisting another six.
Recently, Arsenal reportedly made a £9million bid for Atletico Madrid’s Juanfran, which was rejected by the Spanish champions. They have also kept close tabs on Schalke right back Atsuto Uchida.
