Arsenal are confident they will extend the contracts of star duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil at the end of the season, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.
At the start of 2016, the Gunners were favourites to win the Premier League with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City struggling, yet once again Arsene Wenger’s men were unable to keep up with the other title challengers, this time Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
This has seen several of Arsenal’s star men disillusioned with their lack of progress, with none bigger than Ozil and Sanchez.
Both players are now concerned that the club may not even qualify for the Champions League with Manchester United breathing down their neck four points behind them in the last qualifying spot.
However, the Gunners hierarchy are confident they will once again achieve their objective of top flight European football, and are planning to bring in reinforcements to keep their two stars happy at the Emirates.
Sanchez has recently found the form that made him the club’s Player of the Season last year, while Ozil has been nominated for the PFA Player of the Year accolade after an incredible campaign, providing 18 league assists.
