The Senegalese international only joined the Blues from Newcastle earlier this year, but already looks to have little future left at Stamford Bridge.
Both Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o are preferred as central striking options by Jose Mourinho, who is also thought to be considering making a big name attacking addition to his squad in the New Year.
Arsenal are keen to take advantage of the situation, with Arsene Wenger looking to address his own final third concerns.
The Gunners chief is aware of his reliance on Olivier Giroud, with the in-form Frenchman his only genuine option as the focal point of his attack.
Wenger sees Ba as the ideal man to provide support for his current centre-forward and is ready to test Chelsea’s willingness to keep their 28-year-old hit-man with a £15m move.
The North London club were linked with a loan move for the former West Ham man over the summer, but saw their late efforts thwarted by Mourinho’s resistance to a deal.
But, they are hopeful that a cash swoop may be enough to convince their local rivals to allow Ba to move on.
Will Arsene Wenger really spend £15m on Demba Ba?
