Arsenal could land perfect midfield addition for £21.4m

Arsenal could snap up Sevilla’s impressive holding midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak for a fee of £21.4m this summer, according to reports from Marca.

The Gunners have been linked with the Europa League champions’ star enforcer for much of the transfer window following his impressive debut season at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Krychowiak was a key player for the Seville-based side as they won the continent’s second biggest club football competition and helped them finish fifth in the Spanish league – just two points off third-placed Atletico Madrid.

Reports claim that his release clause of €30m was considered to be enough to keep interest at bay for the current transfer window, but exchange rates between the euro and pound mean that an offer of £21.4m matches the buy-out figure.

Such a sum is thought to be within Arsenal’s budget and Krychowiak could be a particularly appealing option ahead of the deadline for Arsene Wenger following Francis Coquelin’s performance at Crystal Palace over the weekend – the French midfielder was lucky not to receive a second yellow card at Selhurst Park.
