Despite the intensity of the rumours, the Gunners have yet to make any new signings this month, and according to The Athletic's David Ornstein, the north London side are predominantly scouring the loan market for potential new arrivals.

Quickfire Quiz: How much do you know about Arsenal's history in the January transfer window?

Speaking on The Ornstein and Chapman Podcast (starting from 33:40), the journalist revealed Arsenal are looking at one to two loan signings, and that they have earmarked a left-sided centre-half, a central midfielder, and a player to cover the full-back areas too.

And after hearing about Ornstein's update on the club's transfer plans for this January, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the matter.

A couple of fans expressed their frustrations at seeing the club seemingly not having a definitive plan, with one supporter in particular questioning how with a couple of weeks to go, they still aren't close to any deals yet.

Some fans took aim at the club's owners, with one supporter blaming the Kroenke family for not being willing to back Mikel Arteta in the transfer market.

And another couple of supporters of the north London side insisted the Gunners' approach may end up costing them big-time.

Whilst the Gunners have endured a difficult campaign thus far, finding themselves 11 points off the top four after 22 games of the season, there have been encouraging signs under Arteta.

The 2-0 victory over rivals Manchester United laid down a exciting blueprint of what the future could hold, and whilst big-money signings would have been welcome, it's perhaps far more imperative that the Arsenal boss simply continues to work on the training ground, rather than going for quick-fixes in the market.

Meanwhile, Arsenal fans are buzzing after their transfer interest in midfielder was confirmed by club president.
