Arsenal deal for Chelsea outcast ‘imminent’

Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal to make Chelsea‘s Petr Cech one of their summer arrivals, according to reports from Idnes.cz.

The Blues’ goalie has endured a difficult 2014/15 season, with the return of Thibaut Courtois from an extended loan spell at Atletico Madrid having forced him into a back-up role.

The impressive Belgian looks set to retain his place after helping Jose Mourinho’s side to the Premier League title, and with Cech having already suggested that he’s keen to leave unless he’s made ‘No.1’ again, he appears likely to head away from Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal have subsequently been linked with a move, however, a deal is complicated due to the clubs being direct, and local, rivals.

But, reports from the Czech Republic, Cech’s home nation, claim that a £10m swoop is ‘imminent’.

If true, the 32-year-old would surely be Arsene Wenger’s main ‘keeper, despite the impressive form of David Ospina in 2015.
