The Gunners were linked with a stunning move for the Blues’ reserve stopper over the weekend amid reports that the Czech Republic international is not longer needed at Stamford Bridge.
Cech lost his spot at the Chelsea No. 1 over the summer, as Jose Mourinho opted to recall Thibaut Courtois from an extended loan spell at Atletico Madrid and make him his main man in a bid to avoid losing the Belgian – who had been impressive in Spain.
The 22-year-old has since performed well in goal for the league leaders, prompting speculation that Cech will not be able to win back a starting berth and will push for a winter switch.
Arsenal are rumoured to be considering a £7m swoop, but Seaman feels that Arsene Wenger must stick by Szczesny:
“Wojciech is coming off his best season last season with Arsenal and I don’t think that anybody warrants taking his place because he is not making mistakes.” he told talkSPORT.
“Arsenal are conceding goals, but it is not through goalkeeping errors that they are conceding.”
Although Wenger has given up on a title challenge with his side 11 points off of top spot, Seaman doesn’t think their hopes are over just yet:
“They have got a slight chance. Chelsea are looking so good and so strong, but if Arsenal can get on one of their runs where they win a big group of games together then they can put a bit of pressure on,” he said.
“At the moment Chelsea are almost in second gear and they have got three more gears to go.”
