Arsenal are monitoring Lorenzo Insigne ahead of a possible summer bid for the Napoli star, per Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness.

What’s the word?

The Gunners, the report claims, are exploring the possibility of a move for the Italy international.

Insigne has struggled with injuries throughout the campaign and has been limited to just 25 Serie A appearances, though he has scored nine goals and laid on six assists.

He also played six times in the Champions League, scoring the winner in the 1-0 victory over Liverpool while netting in each group clash with PSG, though Carlo Ancelotti’s side did not progress to the knockout stages.

Corriere claim that, along with Chelsea, Arsenal are interested in bringing the 27-year-old to England, a move that would end Insigne’s 13-year association with the club.

He is said to be valued at €100million (£85.8m), a figure that is surely way out of the Gunners’ price range.

Insigne’s agent, Mino Raiola, though, is said to be keen to speak to both Chelsea and French giants PSG before contemplating discussing a deal with the Gunners.

Aubameyang’s dream signing

This would be a hell of a deal if Arsenal could pull it off.

Insigne is lightning quick, creative and technically gifted, while he also has international experience, having played 30 times for Italy.

Across his Napoli career, Insigne has scored 76 goals and laid on 70 assists and he would be the perfect foil for both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette at the Emirates Stadium.

He is pacier than Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mesut Ozil and offers the goal threat that they both lack.

It would be a dream signing for both strikers, who would see their loads lightened and their goalscoring chances increased exponentially.
