Arsenal eye South American Sagna replacement

Roberto Rosales (FC Twente)Arsenal are pondering a January move for FC Twente full-back Roberto Rosales, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is thought to be lining up potential replacements for Bacary Sagna, with the defender’s contract set to expire next summer.

Although the 30-year-old is open to staying in London, interest from a number of Ligue 1 clubs – including Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain – is high.

As a result, Wenger is keen to put a replacement in place, and sees Rosales as the ideal player.

The Venezuelan has made a fine start to the new Eredivisie season, becoming a key member of FC Twente’s backline, which has only been breached five times in nine games.

The 24-year-old is also able to play on the right hand side of midfield or at left-back.

His current employers are keen to tie him down to a new contract, but a move to England may see Rosales openly chase an exit.

Arsenal are also keen on Genoa’s Sime Vrsaljko.

The Croatian ace is another one of Europe’s top emerging full-backs and has also enjoyed an excellent start to the new campaign.

Wenger has funds in place to make additions to his squad, and may pursue one of the youngsters.

Could Roberto Rosales be the ideal man to replace Bacary Sagna?
