Arsenal eye summer deal for Udinese star

Arsenal are targeting a summer move for Udinese goalkeeper Simone Scuffet, according to the Metro.

The Gunners have made contact with the Italian club over the possibility of a move, with Arsene Wenger in need of a new goalkeeper, with Lukasz Fabianksi and on-loan Emiliano Viviano set to leave at the end of the season.

And 17-year-old Scuffet has emerged as Wenger’s first choice as the ideal back up to number one Wojciech Szczesny.

Despite his tender age, Scuffet has already featured for Udinese in high profile Serie A games, and has established himself as a regular in recent weeks.

Arsenal have sent scouts to watch him in action, and Wenger has received glowing reports.

The club have now taken the first step of making contact with the Serie A club over a potential deal at the end of the season.

Udinese are considered a selling club, but they usually drive a high bargain, so Wenger may face the prospect of forking out more than he would like for the teenager.

Scuffet is strong, tall and has excellent reflexes, and has reportedly also caught the attention of Serie A leaders Juventus.
