Arsenal eye transfer move for ex-Chelsea ace

Lille forward Salomon KalouArsenal manager Arsene Wenger is plotting a shock move to bring former Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou back to the Premier League, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Ivorian forward left the Blues last summer to sign for Lille, and has enjoyed a relatively successful stint in Ligue 1.

But, he is thought to be keen to return to England, which has alerted Wenger.

The Frenchman is desperate to draft in fresh faces, and sees Kalou as an ideal quick fix with both Lukas Podolski and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out injured.

The 28-year-old is available for just £2.6m, meaning that Wenger would save funds to strengthen other areas of his squad before the transfer window closes.

The likes of West Brom, Liverpool and Cardiff are also believed to have been in contact with Kalou, but no agreements were reached.

Wenger is attracted to the former Blues man’s versatility and Premier League know-how.

Arsenal can fund a move for Kalou by selling Nicklas Bendtner.

The Danish front-man is wanted by both Hull and Crystal Palace, with the duo reportedly willing to pay in the region of £2m for his signature.

However, both are quibbling with him over his wage demands, which are thought to be well out of the reach of the newly promoted sides budgets.
