Arsenal eyeing Spanish star

Kiko Casilla (Espanyol)Arsenal are plotting a move for Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, according to reports from The Express.

The Gunners are set to up their transfer activity with just over a week remaining of the transfer window in a bid to appease fans angered by their lack of success in the market.

Arsene Wenger is believed to have made a new ‘keeper one of his priorities, and is keen to make a move for Casilla.

The 26-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2012/13 campaign, establishing himself as one of the top goalkeeping talents in La Liga.

Wenger is thought to have been impressed by these displays, and could opt to make a move in the coming days.

Casilla has a £17m buyout clause in his contract with Espanyol, but it is likely that an offer below this figure would be enough to prize him away from the Catalan club.

Arsenal have also been looking at Valencia’s Vicente Guaita, but have baulked at valuation after seeing an opening £3m bid swiftly dismissed.

Real Madrid superstar Iker Casillas is another option, with his future at the Bernabeu far from clear.

Wenger is said to be far from convinced by current number one Wojciech Szczesny, despite the pole being a first-team regular at the Emirates Stadium.
